CHRISTOPHER WAGER COSMAN STORYThis is a featured page

Christopher Wager Cosman ( named after his great-grandmother, Mary Wager) was born in Kingston, Kings Co., New Brunswick, Canada, on June 13, 1862, one of 14 children and one year older than brother , Jeremiah Brundage Cosman. He was the grand-son of James Cosman and Betsy Ann Golding, Loyalists. The family later moved to Millstream, Kings Co., NB, where the family farmed. The homestead still stands, although empty, and the land is hayed by locals..............

Christopher married Sarah Abigail Jamieson, a Millstream girl of Scottish descent, daughter of Hugh Jamieson and Mary Ann Tamlyn. They had three daughters and parted. Christopher worked as a horse trainer and teamster in many places, in California, British Columbia, Mass. and New Brunswick. It is unknown if he and Sarah divorced, but Christopher was common-law husband to Phoebe Almira Wood-Lawton (Mrs Francis Lawton) for 20 years on the Old Black River Road in Saint John, NB. There he ran the farm and kept them all alive, the 10 Lawton kids and Eddie. He died June 29, 1939, aged 77 and is buried in Millstream with his parents.
