Darlene Rose Lawton is the fifth child of Private Edward and Muriel Lawton. Darlene was born on the Old Black River road during the war. She was called peewee and Smiley. Darlene was the first child in the family to graduate from Simonds Regional High School. She became a teacher, mother, writer, poet, painter, gardener.
