NEW INFORMATION by LYNN Calvin
The will of Jane (Lawton) Scott, and her husband's was written and signed at the same time(January 20, 1902), substituting "wife" for "husband" in the wording of the will, so the two documents are practically identical.
In the wills they named each other as primary heirs, but also noted their children:
1.) Mary Elizabeth Jonah wife of Newton Jonah of Boston
2.) William George Scott of the City of Saint John
3.) Annie Celestine Bell, wife of Joseph F. Bell of the City
of Saint John
4.) Emma Jane Kirkpatrick wife of Frederick Kirkpatrick of
the City of Saint John
(Their youngest daughter Alice Maud, namesake of her aunt, married James A. Calvin from Grand Bay and moved to Maine.) submitted by Lynn Calvin5.) Alice Maud McLean wife of G. F. McLean of the
City of Saint John
6.) Ada Marion Chestnut wife of Percy Chestnut of the
City of Saint John
7.) Tina Margaret Scribner wife of Thaddeus Scribner of the
City of Saint John
8.) Walter H. Scott of the City of Saint John
This was recorded in the Registry of Deeds 10 November 1905 to enable executors to sell a lot from the Estate of Jane Scott.

Emma Jane (Scott) Kirkpatrick b. 20 Feb.1859; d. 12 Aug. 1942 ....see family in Further Generations below

Note: In 1875 Atlas of Saint John, what is now Lily Lake in Saint John's Rockwood Park was marked, " LAWTON'S LAKE" and William Lawton was marked on a house nearby, near two lime-kilns. It is interesting that William had a daughter named LILY. Is that why the Lake is now named "LILY LAKE?" INTERESTING!

FERNHILL CEMETERY SAINT JOHN NB
George Lawton, died June 9th, 1878, aged 83 years, a native of Yorkshire, England. Also his wife, Mary, died Aug 26th, 1883, aged 80 years. Jane L, Wife of William Lawton died May 11th, 1907, aged 64 years. In memory of William Scott born Feb 14th, 1822, died Dec 24th, 1903. Also his wife Jane born Nov 18th, 1828, died Aug 29th, 1904

George Lawton was from Yorkshire, very close to Haworth where my beloved Bronte sisters lived. I visited the area and found it to be the most beautiful and most passionate place on earth...I felt it was and always had been my home.
I am Darlene (Lawton) Love
but my grandfather was not a Lawton, but Christopher Cosman of German ancestry, but some of that Yorkshire Heritage must have rubbed off
on me...the Lawton side was visible and
the Cosman side was kept secret ...so my heart, my bones, my spirit, my instincts, my love, my life, my very being is entwined with the idea of
Yorkshire moors...a most elemental place...a place of rolling moors and great oceans of sky...a place of very private people who seek their own company in lonely places but are never lonely...for they are at home in wind and sky and heather and boulders and solitude. I am a poet and I know things...I am in touch with the universal memory and have been since a child. In Yorkshire, I met an "angel" or "ghost" or" spiritual messenger" on a bus...believe it or not...the hair on my neck and arms stood up and I was in shock....I was told....you are of this place...a child of the moors....

The Old Black River Road, where I grew up, was a moor-like place, all sky, scrub-land, wind and weather...and perhaps the Cosman's had it in them too, as the home-stead in Millstream sits a-top a wind-swept and tree-less hill, looking out over an endless view.
And the Cosman's have that intent gaze...looking into the distance.
