Muriel A. Lawton
The death of Muriel A. Lawton, wife of the late Edward Christopher Lawton, occurred on August 26, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Bertrum O. and Emma Jane (Davidson) Lackie. She was employed with the Dietary Department of the Saint John General Hospital and retired from the Housekeeping Department of St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Saint John, had been a member of the Church of the Ascension, Red Head, was a current member of Stone Church and belonged to the Good Fellowship Seniors Club, Old Black River Road. Surviving are sons James Edward (Roxie), Frederick Roy (Rhonda) and Edward Timothy (Darlene), all of Saint John, daughters Jean Bernice Corbiere of St. Catherine’s, Carole Marlene Mason of St. Catherine’s, Darlene Rose (Thomas Love) of Kingston, NB, Patricia Elizabeth (Ervine Worrall) of Saint John, Valarie June (Robert Connell) of Saint John, sisters Marion Marr and Audrey Cyr of Saint John, her 31 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Her son Rodney Lloyd and daughter Marjorie Louise Boucher of Saint John, predeceased her.

Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday from 7-9 pm and Monday from2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at 2:00 pm, from St. James Anglican Church, Lakewood. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery.

Audrey Sarah Leonard1916-2010

The death of Audrey Sarah Leonard of Saint John, wife of the late Edwin Delbert Leonard, occurred on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 8, 1916 in Saint John, she was one of six children of the late Percy and Martha (Moore) Magee. Audrey was a member of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew’s Church, honorary member of N.B. Kennel Club, secretary of the N.B. Toy Dog Club, member of the Fundy African Violet Association, and served on the Board of Directors of the Ladies Kennel Club and the Saint John Animal Rescue League. She was also the coordinator of the Breeder Referral Service for the N.B. Kennel Club Inc. for approximately 15 years.
Audrey is survived by her four children: Edwin (Sonny) at home, Irene Craft (wife of the late Doug Craft) of Saint John, Isabel Nogueira (Chester (Bud)) of Upper Golden Grove, and Brenda McDonald (Michael) of Mississauga, ON; two grandsons; three granddaughters; four great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters; two nieces; and one nephew. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been predeceased by her brothers, Harry, Robert J., and Arthur (an adoptive brother); and three sisters, Miss Alice Mae Irene “Mamie”, Mrs. Hazel Isabel Cook, and Mrs. Florence Louise Gertrude Wilson.
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Animal Rescue League or St. Mary and St. Bartholomew’s Church would be appreciated by the family.

John Elvin Wells

John Elvin Wells1946-2010

Surrounded by his family the death of John Wells, husband of Donna (Doucette) (Smith) Wells occurred on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born on May 22, 1946 in Saint John to the late Charles and Dorothy (Taylor) Wells. John was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, volunteering to fight with the United States. He worked first for Diamond Taxi for 15 years, than as a truck driver with Thomas Construction for over 20 years. John was a member of the Saint John Boat Club. He was a “Jack of all trades” always having a project on the go. John loved to camp, play darts, listen to old country music and drink Jack Daniels.

Besides Donna his devoted wife, John is survived three sons: David (Danielle) of Saint John and John S. (Jen) and Jason both of Red Deer, AB; step-daughter, Shelley Smith (John) of Saint John; step-son, JR Smith of Saint John; brother, Frank Wells of Saint John and eleven grandchildren.

The funeral service will held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 2 PM. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to John’s Living Memorial would be appreciated by the family. At the family’s request the dress for the visitation and funeral will be informal, please wear your favorite jeans in memory of John.

The death of Ethel (Smith) Sparks of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Alonzo Sparks, occurred on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Croydon Surrey, England she was a daughter of the late William and Ellen (King) Smith. Ethel was very proud that she was a war bride. She is survived by five daughters: Ann (Russell) Wilson of Joggins, NS, Vicki (Fred) Drew of Kingston, NB, Patricia Sparks of Ontario, Susan (Neil) Brown of Calgary, and Pamela (Guy) Newcomb of Saint John; two sons: William (Jeanie) Sparks of Saint John, and Michael (Debbie) Sparks of Kingston, NB; two chosen daughters: Maggie and Christine; two sisters: Hazel Condon of England, Nellie Kite of Birmingham, England; one brother, Arthur Smith of England; twenty- two grandchildren, several great- grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by three sons: Terry, Albert and Daniel;one grandchild, Stanley; one sister, Betty Baird.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Percy (Turk) E. Richards
The death of Percy E. “Turk” Richards of Saint John, NB, husband of Joyce
(Jones) Richards occurred on May 8, 2008 at the Saint John Regional
Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB on May 25, 1927, he was the son of the late
Percy and Violet (Bright) Richards. Percy was employed with the Saint John
Sugar Refinery for several years before joining Rothesay Paper Ltd. in 1965.
He worked there for 24 years before he retired from the Mechanics
Department in 1989. Percy also enjoyed a career as an amateur and a
professional boxer between the years of 1940-1948, losing only 3 fights out
of 85. After retiring his boxing gloves he chose to coach the children in his
community for many years. Percy enjoyed traveling in his motor home but
his favorite past-time was rebuilding and fixing cars. He also loved to play
TV Bingo, fish, hunt and garden, but he was happiest when he was
surrounded by the laughter of his family and friends. He was a wonderful
husband, an amazing father, a graceful grand-dad and a dedicated friend
whom will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Percy is survived by his
wife Joyce for what would have been 57 years on December 28, 2008; 11
children: sons, Percy Jr. (Sheila), David (Cathy), Tim (Valerie) all of
Regina, SK, Wayne (Rose), Darrell (Bessie), Richard (Darlene), Keith
(Joanie) of Saint John, NB; daughters, Marietta of Regina, SK, Monica Roy
(Peter), Vanessa Stone (Daniel), Tracey (Andrew) of Saint John, NB; 25
grandchildren, Jason, Shanna, Jeffery, Tabitha, Nickolas, Penny-rae, Jessica,
Ben, Blake, Tiffany, Wayne Jr., Kirk, Dan, Darrell, Josh, Jantina, Trent,
Darien, Layla, Wesley, Tamara, Lara, Brandon, Renee, Jordan and Evan; six
great grandchildren Aaliyah, Noah, Julianna, Dakota, Rayne and Summer and
many nieces and nephews; brothers William (Phyllis) of Southville, NS,
Raymond (Barbara), Peter (Linda) of Weymouth, NS, Vincent, James
(Darlene) of Saint John, NB, Stanley Robarts (Maureen) of Southville, NS;
sisters Hilda Turvey (Bill) of Halifax, NS, Patricia Grant (Walter) of Sydney,
NS, Helen McKinney, Evelyn Stevens of Saint John, NB and Diane Jones
(Charles) of St. Louis. Predeceased by two sisters Margaret “Peggy”
Lockerbie and Janet Wood, and sister-in-law Lillian Richards.

Fundy Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424)
on Monday May 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Ocean View
Memorial Gardens. The family would appreciate donations to the Canadian
Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Anna Sheppard
1919-2008
Anna Sheppard of Saint John, wife of the late Malcolm Robert Sheppard, passed away on
Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Kingsway Centre, Quispamsis. Born at Hungary on
September 15, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Theresa (Sebeny) Veres.
Anna was a faithful member of the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and her faith was an
important part of her life. She enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening, even in her later
years when it was difficult for her. She also liked to knit and crochet, and hook rugs.
Anna is survived by a son Robert Sheppard (Beverley) of Hampton; a daughter, Paulette Riley
(Randolph) of Vancouver Island, BC; a sister, Theresa McCoubrey of Moncton; grandchildren
Corbin, Anna, Alexander, Victoria and Shannon; step-grandchildren Natasha and Jonathan;
and several great grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband,
Anna was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia McPherson; a brother, Frank Veres; and a
sister, Elizabeth Elek.

7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on
Friday at 2:00 PM from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2020 Loch Lomond Road,

Rena Victoria Hawboldt
The death of Rena Victoria Hawboldt occurred on November 6, 2007 at the Saint John
Regional Hospital. Born in Digby, NS, she was the daughter of the late Sanford and
Mary Elizabeth (Speight) Harris.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed bingo, darts and shuffleboard throughout the
years. She was predeceased by her husband Medford Hawboldt, companion Joseph
Cormier, brother Lee Harris and sisters Sadie Hill, Alice Doucet and Edith Kenny. She is
survived by her children Valerie Doucet, Peter Harris (Betty), George Hawboldt
(Penny), Daniel Hawboldt, Raymond Hawboldt (Cindy Dean), Roger Hawboldt (June),
Dale Hawboldt, Marsha Kingston (Allan), all of Saint John, brother Douglas Harris of
Digby, NS, 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Following cremation at Brenans Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461
Manawagonish Road (634-7425), with visiting on Friday from 10:00 am until the funeral
service at 3:00 pm, from Bay View Chapel. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill
Extension Cemetery. Remembrances made to a charity of the donor’s choice would be
appreciated.

Rose Goldsworthy
The death of Rose A. Anthony (Goldsworthy), loving wife of Gordon Anthony occurred peacefully on Monday August 30, 2010 at The Loch Lomond Villa surrounded by her loving family. Born in Saint John on August 31, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Marguerite Goldsworthy. Rose worked as an agent for All State Insurance for many years. Besides her husband Gordon, she is survived by her children Gordon (Susan) van Nieuw Amerongen, Christine (Randy) Somerville, Lorina (Hughie) Boucher; Tina (Paul) O’Neil and Kelly Anthony; grandchildren Cory, Adam, Melissa, Dylan, John, Taylor, Camryn, Michael and Alyssa; brothers Harley (Winni), John (Eva), Brian (Nancy), Stephen (Nora), Lloyd (Carol); sisters Marguerite (Warren), Barb (Jim), Shirley (Arthur); several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother Donald Goldsworthy. Special thanks to the staff at the Loch Lomond Villa for their help and support.
