Upham (Kings Co.) May 6 - Sunday eve. that people of this place were surprised when they heard of the death of Nimrod Lackie, age 17 years. He was the second s/o James Lackie and had been attending the Dairy School at Sussex, where he caught the measles. No danger was thought until Saturday when they sent for the doctor, but it was too late and at 1 o'clock Sunday his sufferings were ended. School mates and friends attended the funeral which took place at St. Peter's church Tuesday afternoon.

Charity Elizabeth Smith Homestead built by her grandfather, Smithtown. Lura Lackie inherited the home and her great-grandson, Marshall Fowler and his family live there now.

Keturah and Janie both died young.
