ON THIS PAGE I WILL RECORD FAMILY MESSAGES.

Elizabeth Ann Golding and James Cosman were my great-great-great grandparents.
I am 71 years old and am
most intested in the fact that I have Jewish ancestors. I
believe that my Great Grandfather was the 2nd oldest of
John Nelson Cosman and your ancestor was #11 of 12 if the
information I have is correct. It has been understood that
the Cosman immigration came from Venlo Holland to America
then on to Canada. My grandfather, William Allen and his
wife Ida Patterson, immigrated from N.B. to Colorado Springs,
Colorado (US) in about 1901 or 1902. They later moved to
Montana where they had four daughters (one of which is my
mother.) Any information you have on the Cosmans or
Chambers Patterson of NB would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

BKeppler

Subject:
Cosman Pictures

I had my son try to figure out how to send the William Allen
Cosman and Ida Patterson wedding picture of 1903 but he
can't figure it out (and I sure can't). Do you have some
instructions? I could run a hard copy and mail it to you if you
want me to. I also have the college graduation pictures of
Ina Cosman Beadle, Pearl Cosman Sparr, Ruby Cosman
Bartleson and Hazel Cosman Daffern, the 4 daughters of the
above W. A. Cosman. My mother is Ruby Cosman Bartleson.
I found that 2 family members died in Auschwitz. Samuel
Cosman was born March 21, 1901 in Den Haag and died Auschwitz February 28, 1943.
Sophia Cosman-Groenteman was born Amsterdam April 3, 1901 and died Auschwitz October 29, 1942.
I have
several pages of information which Douglas Ivan Cosman
compiled and sent February, 1977. It has traced the family
back to Hainbach near Easlingen, south of Stuttgart in 1303.
It is quite lengthy and he worked on it while in the service
stationed in Germany. Are you interested? If so, am I to
write it on a message page like this one? Great to share
what we have in hopes of discovering missing pieces. I was
most interested to learn Ida Patterson was Irish. My mom &
her sisters lamented that they knew nothing of their mother's
people. My son has his maternal DNA done and it came
back that many of the Patterson descendants were Jews
moving to many countries. Perhaps this is part of the secrecy. Thanks for all your work. I look forward to hearing
from you. Love, Betty Keppler P. S. Family oral information
is that the Cosmans had to leave Germany due to persecution and settled in Venlo, Holland for a span of time
before immigrating to the U. S. When I visited there in 1977
a check of the Venlo phone book had 5 Cosman families
living there. I was unable to contact any of them, however.

I have been interested in Auschwitz too and have read many books. I looked up the Cosman name and many of them died there and in other camps. Terrible beyond words. But what a strong legacy of hope and of survival. Blackriverrosi.
