I remember this dress, how I loved it. It was a little blue dress with a red pinafore over it. I remember it hanging on our line in the kitchen to dry, the light from the windows shining through the red apron. Those shoes were of brown leather and were found in a feed sack on the side of the road. The sack was full of new shoes, all alike and all the same size. Someone had stolen them and then thrown them away as useless, perhaps. I made use of them for sure. My little curtsy shows how cute I was then and how innocent. Even then, the dreamer.






My mother's father, Gampy, was a tall, white-haired old Irishman. He was old forever, even in his family photo with his parents and siblings. He looked......
