Theresa Lawton, daughter of Robert Lawton and Ann Jane White married James Delavan Beyea who was from French Village, of the Loyalist Beyeas who were related to the Smiths, the Bulls, and the Sherwoods, of Kings Co., and ultimately, to the Lackies.

Theresa and James farmed on the Cottage Road, a small side road off the Old Black River Road, near Ann Jane Lawton's. Their descendants live there still. The top of the hill where the Beyeas live has a million dollar view; a 360 degree sweep of Saint John, the Bay of Fundy, untamed woods and the Irving Oil Refinery. The top of the Cottage Road was known as Prospect Hill, and a grand house almost like a castle once stood there. A stone terrace was built as a viewing platform for tourists who drove out from town by stagecoach to see the view. Legend has it that there is buried treasure on the hill, and my dad used to dig there as did many others.
