The Wood Home on Rothesay Ave., right beside McAvity smoke stack, where Jacob and kids lived with his parents. This property was a lease hold, and in the 1930's Mabel Lawton sprague boarded some of her siblings there. The leasehold was left to Jacob's daughter Phoebe and she left it to her son, Arthur.



1875 Atlas Saint John, Wood Home was right in front of Wesleyan Cemetery, right beside McAvitiy's Foundry and beside what is now the Superstore on Rothesay Ave.

The Westmorland Road is now Thorne Ave. where Bert Lackie lived, so Muriel and Eddie must have met in that area.





Phoebe Whelpley's brother who drowned in the Bay of Fundy, leaving wife and young family.

A pleasant party assembled at residence of Policeman Joseph Woods, Marsh Bridge (St. John) last eve. The occasion was the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Woods.

The death occurred yesterday of Joseph Woods, who was about 14 years before the union of St. John and Portland, a police officer in the latter's service. Mr. Woods was stricken with paralysis on Friday last. Dominon Lodge, L.O.A. will hold a meeting this eve. in their hall, Simond's Street, to arrange for attending the funeral.

The funeral of Joseph C. Wood took place yesterday afternoon from his residence on the Marsh Road. The services at the house and grave were conducted by Rev. G.M. Campbell, the Orange burial service being read as the remains were being lowered to their last resting place. The funeral Cortege proceeded to the Rural (Fernhill) Cemetery. The pall bearers were Wm E. ALLINGHAM, R. HAMILTON, John KENNEY, Sr., Thomas M. CORBETT, Wm HAMILTON, C. MOWBRAY, all members of Dominion Lodge, L.O.A.
