Description: Obituary of James RuddockDate: December 22 1905 Newspaper published in: Ukiah FATHER OF J. C. RUDDOCK DEAD Attorney J. C. Ruddock was called to San Francisco Wednesday by the sudden death of his father, James Ruddock. The deceased had never been sick a day in his life barring the ordinary illness until he had a stroke of paralysis a few months ago from which he never fully recovered. Mr. Ruddock had no intimation of his father's last illness until he received word of his death. The deceased had never visited this city and his only trip to this county was as a timber expert a number of years ago to the Gualala woods. James Ruddock was born in 1819 in Mallow, Cork county, Ireland, and moved to this country when quite young and was for a number of years foreman of a ship yard in St. Johns, New Brunswick. He moved to Norfork [sp], Virginia, and from there to New York and finally located in California in 1852 at Jimtown, Tuolumne county. He engaged in mining there for a number of years and in 1870 moved to San Francisco where he has since resided. His wife died about two years ago. The funeral occurred at 10 o'clock yesterday morning and interment took place in the family plot in Holy Cross cemetery. The surviving children are Attorney J. C. Ruddock of this city, James Ruddock of Idaho, Andrew, George and Patrick Henry Ruddock of San Francisco. http://www.newspaperabstracts.com/link.php?action=detail&id=64001 Do you find this valuable? |
